Why Homeschool?
I am a teacher. I love to teach, plain and simple. Before having my own children,I borrowed children for the day. I have taught 1st,2nd,and 3rd graders. School, planning lessons, decorating my classroom, conferencing with parents, and nurturing life-long learners consumed me for about 10 years. You could have labeled me a "teacher nerd". Sharpened pencils, new erasers,glue,supplies,etc.... they made me smile! I knew in my heart that God wanted me to teach. But,he also wanted me to be a mother (I am assuming, since I have four children.....just kidding). Once the twins were born,I had a different purpose. These precious babies,a gift from God,entrusted to us. Raising children, that is an important job......it makes me smile. Our job is to raise them right. WOW!!!! Can you say prayer???? So,now I am combining my talents. Teacher+Mommy=Homeschool Mommy I am taking this one day at a time, one minute at a time really. I also have a two year old sitting in on Pre-K and a 7 month old. We will find the balance together. Teaching the babies with the good Lord as my guide. I trust Him and we are teaching the children to trust Him too!

The First Day!
We started our school day at 10:00. I had the kids come through the front door so that I could greet them one by one. The first thing on mommy's agenda-potty first!!! After we said the morning prayer,I had the kiddos sit in their little chairs as we sang "Under the Teaching Tree." We decided Lilly Grace would be the helper of the day (calendar,weather,snack,doorholder,etc...) We then moved on to calendar/weather and calendar on starfall.com. Max(our long-haired Jack Russell terrier puppet that came with our curriculum)joined us to discuss rules and expectations. Snack, centers, and recess were a big hit-surprise????
I choose blocks as the center for today. It may take a few days for them to understand that they do not have access to all their toys during centers. Up/down were position words learned during math time. I am trying to find a happy medium for the twins+Caroline. I added the words up/down to the board for the twins and we reviewed the letters/sounds. We played up and down games outside duing recess too! Social Development: we talked about personal space!!! Science:we planted pumpkin seeds Read Aloud: Matthew ABC written by Peter Catalanotto (cute/funny book). The kiddos also completed the first page in their activity book! Good day! School was over by 11:30-woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!
